SM Entertainment’s rookie girl group Hearts2Hearts has unveiled their first mini-album, FOCUS, marking a bold step in defining their musical identity. The showcase was held on October 20 at Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Seoul, hosted by broadcaster Jaejae.
The album includes six tracks: the title track FOCUS, upbeat Apple Pie, romantic Flutter, dreamy Blue Moon, energetic Pretty Please, and stylish STYLE. The title track, a house-inspired song featuring a catchy vintage piano riff, reflects the group’s attempt at a new genre, emphasizing cool and chic vibes distinct from their earlier releases. Member Jiwoo described it as a step toward solidifying Hearts2Hearts’ unique style and capturing listeners’ attention.
Choreography plays a central role in the group’s concept. Hearts2Hearts emphasized precise, sharp movements in their performances while incorporating dynamic formations and unit dances to showcase each member’s individual charm. Ian noted that the group’s well-coordinated “focus” gestures and ensemble formations highlight their signature synchronized style.
The music video portrays the world of teenage girls, with members acting as classmates navigating friendship, rivalry, and everyday school life. Aina, Jiwoo, and Yuha even performed magical duel scenes reminiscent of Harry Potter, including wire-action stunts, adding cinematic flair to the visuals.
The group’s dedication to performance is evident, with intensive rehearsals and guidance from choreographer Jonain, known for the Netflix K-Pop Demon Hunters OST choreography. Members emphasized that teamwork, mutual feedback, and individual expression are key to executing their precise choreography, a signature strength praised by fans.
Hearts2Hearts debuted just eight months ago but has rapidly grown, releasing two albums and performing widely both domestically and internationally. For this release, their goals include topping music charts and connecting authentically with audiences through both music and performance.
FOCUS is available on all major music platforms starting October 20, with a live showcase at 6 PM KST.
